Restart the Game

The first thing you should try if you see the “Inappropriate Activity Detected” error is to restart the game on your PC, Steam Deck or console. This seems to be a common issue, especially now after the release of the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree.

If restarting doesn’t do the trick, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Verify Game Files on Steam

This checks for corrupted files and redownloads if necessary.

  • You can verify Steam game files by right-clicking on Elden Ring in your Steam library.
  • Select “Properties” -> “Local Files” -> “Verify Integrity of Game Files.”

This error can also come up if you’re using cheat engines to make the game easier. It’s best to not use it because it can potentially lead to a ban, and can disable online gameplay for your account.

But, if you’ve never used Elden Ring cheats, the game’s anti-cheat software might mistakenly flag something harmless and bring up the ‘Inappropriate Activity Detected’ error.

Repair EAC

If you want to try out repairing Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), here’s how to do it:

Through the Game Launcher (Steam):

  • Open your Steam library.
  • Right-click on Elden Ring.
  • Select “Properties” -> “Local Files” -> “Browse Local Files”.
  • Navigate to the folder path containing “EasyAntiCheat” (often under Binaries or similar).
  • Right-click on “EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe” (or “EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe” for newer versions) and select “Run as administrator”.
  • Choose the “Current game” option if it’s not pre-selected.
  • Click “Repair Service”.

Lastly, if nothing else works, contact Elden Ring support and they will provide guidance that’s more specific to the problem you’re facing.
