But it’s not always that simple because, in some versions, you can easily customize your time settings, but some versions of Windows 11 have a long route to do it.   • If you are using 25247 or above build of Windows 11, you can enable Seconds by first opening Settings and going to the Personalization tab.
  • Click on the Taskbar option under the Personalization tab.
  • Go to ‘Taskbar behavior’ and search for the ‘Show Seconds on System Tray Clock‘ checkbox and tick on it by left-clicking on the checkbox.
  • Leave Settings, and the Seconds will be shown on the System Tray Clock.
  • This is the quickest way to display Seconds on your Taskbar. However, this setting is not available in all Windows 11 versions.
  • For the 21H2 and below builds, you need to tweak a Registry value or use a Third Party Application to enable seconds on the System Tray.
  • However, tweaking a Registry Value method was blocked in 22H2 or above versions of Windows 11. Hence, using Third Party apps such as the ElevenClock app can be applied here.
  • To display seconds using the ElevenClock app, open the ElevenClock Settings > Date and Time Settings > Enable the ‘Show Seconds on the Clock’ option.

How to Tweak a Registry Value to Display seconds on Taskbar

  • On your Search bar, Search for ‘Registry Editor’ and navigate yourself to the ‘Advanced’ Key. Or you can copy and paste this Path on your Registry Address bar to get to the ‘Advanced’ key quickly: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
  • Once you are on the ‘Advanced’ key, scroll and search for ‘ShowSecondsInSystemClock‘entry and right-click on it.
  • A new menu will open on the side of the key, double-click on it, and a new Dword Dialogue box will appear.
  • Change the Value data to “1” and click ‘OK’
  • Sometimes on Registry, you might not find this entry.
  • In such cases, right-click on the Entry Pane and click New. Here, select ‘Dword (32-bit) Value’.
  • Name the entry to ‘ShowSecondsInSystemClock’ and then double-click and change the Value data to “1”.
  • Close Registry Editor and restart your PC to enable Seconds on your Taskbar.
