Can’t Join A Discord Server? Try These Fixes
These troubleshooting tips will help you if you’re unable to join a Discord server.
Not being able to join a Discord server can be incredibly frustrating especially if it provides time-limited and exclusive codes or freebies for games. There are many reasons why you’re not able to join a server and in this guide, we will take a look at everything you can do from your end.
Reasons why you can’t join a Discord Server
- The invite link is invalid
- It’s a glitch/bug
- The server limit has been reached
- You’ve been banned from a server
- The server is private
- The server is full
With the reasons out of the way, let’s take a look at how you can fix this issue by narrowing down the problems.
The Discord server invite link is invalid
Invite links can expire after a while or it could have a typo which is why you can’t join the Discord server. Get an updated link from the source’s social media page (like Twitter/FB or even their official website) and check for any typos. You should be able to get in after that.
It’s a glitch/bug
If it’s a bug, close the Discord client, relaunch it, and try to join again. There could be server-related issues from the platform’s end as well, and if Discord is down at the moment, you can try joining after a while. Ensure that your internet connection is stable and you’ve already restarted your client/PC.
The Server limit has been reached
Every user has a limit of 100 servers they can join (unless they have Discord Nitro). So, if you’re a free user, then leave a server you’re no longer active on to free up a slot. But if you’re willing to spend some money and upgrade to Discord Nitro, the limit will increase to 200.
You’ve been banned from a server
If you’ve been banned from a particular server before, you won’t be able to join in later because it could be an IP address ban. To resolve this problem, you can contact the admin and send a polite appeal to unban you.
The server is private
Some servers are private and require approval from an admin or moderator before someone can join. If this is the case, reach out to someone with permission to invite you.
The server is full
If you’re trying to join an extremely popular server, you won’t be able to join it if it has hit its maximum member limit. Some may have a waitlist feature, but if that particular one doesn’t, you can contact the admins and they will inform you when a spot opens up. Meanwhile, you can join similar servers that have space for new members.
And there you have it! Those were all the reasons why you can’t join a Discord server and how to resolve this issue.
