This Record Breaking Game Is Leaving Xbox Game Pass Soon
Xbox is removing five games this month and one of them is a massively popular title.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers will lose out on 5 games in January 2024 and one of them is the record-breaking title GTA 5.
As new games get added to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, some get removed, and under the Leaving Soon section, you will see that the games getting removed on January 15 are GTA V, Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 4 Golden. This is applicable for Console and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate libraries.
While Microsoft does not reveal the exact dates, as per @IdleSloth84_ on Twitter, these games are leaving on Jan 15th. But some say that GTA V in particular will leave as soon as January 5. So, if you were planning on completing the game, now is the time to grind it.
UPDATE: As per the official blog post, GTA V is indeed leaving on January 5.

If you are already mid-progression in Grand Theft Auto 5 and can’t complete it before this date, you can use the discount that Xbox Game Pass subscribers have to purchase the titles available in the Game Pass catalog.
Chances are that the game may return in the future because this was its third time on the platform. It’s unclear when it will come back to Game Pass, though. Before this, it was previously available for a few months in 2020 and 2021.
GTA 5 did get a huge rush of players coming back to the game after the GTA 6 trailer generated lots of hype for the series. The unfortunate leaks also brought the next installment into the spotlight, and so for Game Pass users, this can be pretty disappointing.
However, it seems like the reason why GTA 5 is getting removed from Game Pass is because it came to its rival subscription service PlayStation Plus Extra on December 19, 2023. So, this was most likely done to maintain some exclusivity for subscription platforms in order to get a boost of subscriptions.
