Critically Acclaimed PlayStation Game Gets A Roguelike Mode
Your survival skills will be put to the test.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered gets a Roguelike mode called No Return, available on PS5 on January 19, 2024 and the pre-orders start on December 5, 2023. Naughty Dog released a trailer video for the heart-thumping mode that you can check out right here.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered combat gets a higher level of difficulty in the form of “runs” to survive and complete. If you die, you must start over again as depicted in the video where you go from the Hardware Store location > the Forest > the State Street > the Hospital > Hospital Basement where you encounter the Rat King.
You will go through a series of randomized encounters against different types of enemies that you can deal with via stealth and combat. The best part is that you can play as Ellie, Abby, and even the previously unplayable Dina, Jesse, Lev, Tommy, and more unlockable characters – each with their unique traits to give players the experience of different playstyles. There will be skins to unlock for them as well.
Can you play No Return Mode Multiplayer with Friends?
No, the TLOU Part 2 Remastered No Return Mode is single-player mode only with no other multiplayer aspects like co-op missions – yet. However, it has been mentioned in this PlayStation blog that there will be a global leaderboard that will bring competitiveness to this mode.
Despite being only single-player for now, it’s sure to be an interesting mode for fans of the series and the Roguelike genre.
