Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage or Project Sekai is a popular rhythm game that’s still getting content updates for Android and iOS players. Unfortunately, many are facing the ‘Failed to Connect to Server’ error or other connection issues. Players aren’t able to log into the game, especially when there’s an event going on. Some others are encountering a white screen or infinite loading problems.

If you are one such player who is unable to access the game due to connection issues in Project Sekai, here’s everything you do from your end.

How to Fix Failed to Connect to Server Error in Project Sekai

To solve connection issues in the game, there are a few troubleshooting tips that you can follow:

Check your internet connection

First and foremost, confirm if the connection issues aren’t due to an unstable internet connection. Reset your router, and try logging in again. Switch between your WiFi and mobile data and test if the game starts working again. If your internet is not the problem, let’s move to the next few tips.

Restart your phone

Sometimes a simple step such as restarting your phone can clear any issues that may have built up in the app and after this, you ideally should be able to log in and play the game.

Keep retrying

As per some Redditors, the Project Sekai failed to connect to server issue was resolved after they kept attempting to login over and over again and eventually, they could enter the game. This is most likely connected to server issues – as and when the devs fix it, players are able to play the game at that time.

Check if servers are down

If servers are down then there’s nothing players can do apart from waiting for them to be back up online. This could happen due to an outage, maintenance period or due to a server overload. Keep an eye on the official links of the devs like Twitter or Discord server for the latest updates. You can also head over to the Community Discord server for more info.

Clear the app’s cache

Clearing the app’s cache seems to have worked for a few players and you can try it too. The steps to clear your device’s cache will be different for every model but here’s the general process:

Android

  • Select iPhone Storage and go to the Project Sekai app.
  • Then tap on Offload app. Note that this will free up storage used by the app but keep its documents and data.
  • Reinstalling the app will reinstate your data if the app is still available in the app store. So do this only if you are okay with reinstalling Project Sekai.

Check if you are playing on two devices at the same time

It’s worth noting that you can only have your account open on one device at a time, so if there’s a chance your account is open on two devices, you may face connection errors in Project Sekai.

As per an answer on the support page, you may encounter issues when you try to log in on the original device you have transferred the data from.

They continue, “You can only play the game on the device to which you have transferred the data. If you wish to play the game on the original device, you will need to transfer the data back.

Once you use a transfer ID, you will not be able to use the same ID for the next data transfer.
After you have transferred your data, please go to Menu>Account Transfer to set up the transfer settings once again on the new device.”

Turn off VPN

In case you are using a VPN, turn it off and check if you are able to log in again.

Reinstall the Game

One of the last resorts to follow is to completely uninstall the game and reinstall it to see if you can get a fresh start and get into the game easily.

Lastly, if all else fails, and your friends are able to play but not you – contact support and they will help you out. Here’s the link to submit a ticket where players have to add their email address, select an inquiry form, add a description and attachments. Submit and Sega will reach out to you in some time.
