Why are Overwatch 2 Mythic Skins Gone?

Mythic skins are some of the best skins available in the game (like Moira’s Ancient Caller, and Mercy’s Vengeance skin), however, as of May 15, 2024, these skins are not showing up in Overwatch 2. Seeing that your favorite mythics have disappeared can be a shock, but don’t worry, this is not permanent! Here’s everything you need to know about their disappearance.

Why are Overwatch 2 Mythic Skins Disabled?

OW2 Mythic skins are disabled due to a bug discovered in the mid-season patch of Season 10, the one that buffs tanks and some other characters, and adds the Porsche x D.Va collab skin. Equipping Mythic skins was causing crashes or disconnects for players during matches and this was bad news, especially for those who play ranked. Leaver Penalties that have occurred since this bug will not be applied.

To prevent these issues, Blizzard has temporarily disabled all Mythic skins and the Mythic shop until they find a fix. Once they do, it will be resolved in a quick patch.

Meanwhile, the other good skins from Rare, Epic, or Legendary categories can still be equipped, so players don’t have to play with default skins.

Here’s the complete message from Blizzard’s community manager on the official forum:

“We are temporarily disabling all Mythic Skins as we investigate an issue discovered in today’s patch that is leading to crashes or disconnections from various matches when those skins are equipped. If you currently have any Mythic Skins equipped, you may find your heroes reverted to the default Overwatch 2 skin in your next game. You can still equip any Rare, Epic, or Legendary skin. We have also disabled the Mythic Shop until we can resolve this issue. You can still continue to collect Mythic Prisms in the Premium Battle Pass.”

“We will update this post when we know more. Leaver Penalties have been waived from any previous match instance since this issue began. Thank you for your understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
